Tyler Flowers Built for Two Hospital Systems, Not One

Hospital rooms are hard on cut flowers. Dry air, warm windowsills, nobody around to change the water. Chrysanthemums, carnations, and lisianthus outlast roses and hydrangeas by several days in that environment, and they travel better on a food cart if a nurse ends up moving them room to room. Oncology and the NICU both tend to have their own rules on fresh flowers, so I'd rather someone call and ask than have the delivery turned away at the desk.

Tyler has more senior living out along that stretch than most cities its size, and a lot of the orders we get there aren't sympathy at all. A shorter-lived stem does more harm than good in a room that only gets tended to every couple of days. I lean toward carnations, chrysanthemums, and alstroemeria for these addresses, in a bright arrangement rather than anything somber. It's usually not a sympathy occasion, and the flowers shouldn't read like one.

Ordering funeral flowers from a distance is one of those tasks people do on autopilot, grief in one hand and a delivery deadline in the other. Flowers won't fix it.
