The gate question above is not us being cautious for the sake of it. I will admit it slows some calls down, and a few callers would rather just give a card number and get off the phone. We ask it on every base order anyway, because the alternative costs more time than the question does. On a Saturday specifically, base orders need more runway than an off-base order, since the Visitor Control Center keeps weekday hours and the 10AM cutoff does not leave much room to fix a pass that was never started. That is the one part of this page where a Saturday order genuinely behaves differently from a weekday one.
