Mesa Community College has the largest public rose garden in the desert southwest. Nine thousand bushes, forty beds, an All-America Rose Selections test site since 2000. The garden is at Southern and Dobson, essentially at the western edge of the community. People assume the roses they are sending must come from there, or from one of the Litchfield Park nursery farms that produce most of America’s rose bushes. They do not.
